Ethiopian Nutrition Project Box Packaging

The owner of NDC Snacks was involved in missionary work in Ethiopia. He had an idea to build a pasteurization facility near the village he worked with. This would allow the locals to produce and sell safe, local products that would keep for longer than a day. 

We wanted to keep the packaging simplistic and include some traditional patterns. I reached out to an online group for help with translations into Amharic, the local language. The text at the top of the packaging reads the equivalent of “Made Local, By Locals.” The folks in the group had a hard time translating the meaning as they said the concept of producing things locally was new to them.
